Hellen was promoted to Group COO for SMTS in November 2022. She remains as Managing Director of SMTS Zambia as well as her operational duties for SA SMTS.
Hellen represents “Compliance & Standards across Africa” and when Hellen was awarded the AfriSAFE Special Commendation Award for “exemplary contribution towards the improvement of health, safety, environment and well-being in Africa” back in 2021 it certainly was due to her efforts in:
- Elevating the importance of HSSE on the continent
- Increasing the number of woman in HSSE
- Supporting the development of safe working practices across industries
Since then, she has also won the AfriSafe award for “Outstanding Women in Safety” in 2022 and led the company to “Training Provider of the Year” in 2023.
